What is Botox?

Botox (and its cousins Dysport and Xeomin) are purified neuromodulators that gently relax the tiny muscles responsible for expression lines. Softening these muscles smooths existing wrinkles and slows the formation of new ones.

The art is in restraint. A skilled, anatomy-first hand treats only what's needed — so you look rested and refreshed, never frozen.

Pairs well with

Botox above the brow with a light filler below it is the most requested combination in the clinic.

Benefits

  • Smooths forehead lines, frown lines (11s) and crow's feet
  • Preventative — slows new wrinkle formation
  • Softens a gummy smile, jaw tension and neck bands
  • Quick, comfortable, and virtually no downtime

What to expect

Start to finish, so there are no surprises on the day.

  1. 1
    Before you come in

Skip alcohol and blood thinners (aspirin, fish oil, ibuprofen) for 24 hours if you can — it noticeably reduces bruising.

  2. 2
In the chair · 20 min

We map your expressions while you frown, raise and smile, then place a handful of tiny injections. No numbing needed.

  3. 3
    Days 3–5

Lines start to soften. Movement eases gradually, so nothing changes overnight and nobody catches the switch.

  4. 4
    Day 14 · free touch-up

You come back, we check symmetry, and top up anything that settled unevenly. Included, always.

Before you book

What would change this plan

Standard contraindications and precautions for this treatment — the questions you should expect from anyone offering it.

  • Are you pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding? Not while you're pregnant or nursing.
  • Have you been diagnosed with a neuromuscular condition — myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or ALS? Neurotoxin isn't appropriate without specialist sign-off.
  • Have you ever had a severe allergic reaction — to a medication, an anaesthetic, or a previous injectable? Alla needs the details before anything is planned.
  • Do you take blood thinners, or daily aspirin? Not a barrier — a planning point.
  • Right now, do you have a cold sore, a skin infection, or an active breakout where you'd want treatment? Wait until the skin is clear.
  • Do you have an autoimmune condition, or take medication that suppresses your immune system? Usually workable, always discussed.

Aftercare

The short list that protects your result. You'll get this in writing too.

  • Stay upright for 4 hours — no lying flat, no facials, no massage
  • No gym, sauna or hot yoga for 24 hours
  • Don't rub or press the treated areas
  • Makeup is fine after a few hours

Myths, straightened out

What clients arrive believing — and what's actually true.

Botox will freeze my face.
Only over-dosing does. We under-dose first-timers on purpose and add more at your two-week check if you want more.
Once you start you can never stop.
Untrue. If you stop, muscles gradually return to where they were — you simply lose the effect, you don't get worse.
It's only for people with wrinkles already.
Preventative dosing in your late 20s and 30s stops lines from etching in permanently. It's the cheapest anti-ageing there is.

How this is handled here

What people actually arrive saying, and the approach taken — not individual patient histories.

Botox$12 / unit

“I don’t want to look frozen”

The concern

By far the most common hesitation, and usually based on having seen over-treated faces rather than well-treated ones. The fear is reasonable; the answer is dosing, not avoidance.

The approach
  • First treatments are deliberately under-dosed
  • Frown lines treated before the forehead, so the brow keeps moving
  • Every injection point explained before it is placed
  • A complimentary review at two weeks — the point at which more can be added
Why

Adding is straightforward. Removing is impossible. Starting low means the two-week review is a choice rather than a rescue.

Masseter Botox$400

Morning headaches, worn molars, a squared jaw

The concern

Three complaints that turn out to be one problem: clenching. People usually arrive for the jaw shape and only mention the headaches when asked.

The approach
  • Considerably more product than facial work — the masseter is a large, strong muscle
  • A night guard is continued; this reduces force, it does not replace protection
  • Told plainly that slimming is a muscle-atrophy effect and shows over months, not weeks
  • Reviewed at three months rather than two
Why

Relief from clenching comes first. The change in the shape of the lower face comes later — which is exactly why nobody should judge it at two weeks.

General approach only. Individual results vary and every plan is decided at consultation.

Frequently asked

Will I look frozen?

No. Our approach is conservative and expression-preserving — the goal is a softer, well-rested version of you.

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe a tiny pinch. The needles are very fine and treatment takes minutes.

How long until I see results?

Lines start softening in 3–5 days, with the full effect around two weeks.

How often do I come back?

Typically every 3–4 months to maintain results.

Personalized pricing by area and units — reviewed transparently at your consultation.
