What is pure PDGF?

PDGF — platelet-derived growth factor — is the signal your body sends to a wound to start rebuilding it. It recruits the cells that lay down collagen and it brings blood supply to the area. It is not a new idea in medicine: PDGF-BB has received FDA approval in four medical indications for tissue regeneration, such as wound healing.

Ariessence is that growth factor made recombinantly — grown, not harvested — at a standardised concentration, unlike PRP, whose content depends on your blood that day, and suspended in sterile hyaluronic acid. Four ingredients in total.

It goes on immediately after a treatment that has opened microscopic channels in the skin — microneedling, RF microneedling, a laser or a peel. That window is the whole point: the same molecule applied to intact skin would never get past the barrier.

Before
Nothing extra to prepare. The base treatment — microneedling, RF or a peel — is booked and prepped as normal.

In the room · under a minute
The PDGF syringe and the hyaluronic acid are combined at the chairside, immediately before application. It is never pre-mixed.

Straight after the treatment
Applied to the open skin while the channels are still there. The window is short, which is why it goes on then and not later.

Days 1–7
Recovery follows the base treatment. The trial checked skin at days 1, 3 and 7; at day 7 the blinded score was not yet significantly different from ointment.

The point at which the blinded assessors in the trial found a significant difference against the ointment. This is a healing-quality treatment, not an overnight one.

Are you pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding? Not while you're pregnant or nursing.
Have you ever had a severe allergic reaction — to a medication, an anaesthetic, or a previous injectable? Alla needs the details before anything is planned.
Do you take blood thinners, or daily aspirin? Not a barrier — a planning point.
Right now, do you have a cold sore, a skin infection, or an active breakout where you'd want treatment? Wait until the skin is clear.

Myths, straightened out

What clients arrive believing — and what's actually true.

It's the same as PRP, just more expensive.

Different mechanism. PRP is a broad mix of your own growth factors at whatever concentration your blood gives that day. This is one growth factor, recombinant, at a standardised concentration — and no needle in your arm.

A growth factor serum from a shop does the same thing.

Not the same use. This is applied through freshly opened channels straight after a treatment, which is how the one published trial used it — a serum on intact skin is a different situation.

It has been proven to work in aesthetics.

Not yet. PDGF-BB is used in FDA-approved medical products, but in aesthetics there is one small, manufacturer-funded trial, and a 2026 review calls its cosmetic use investigational. That is why this page states the evidence instead of promising a result.

How is this different from PRP?

PRP is your own platelets, spun down — the concentration depends on your blood on that day. Ariessence is recombinant PDGF-BB at a known, standardised concentration, with no draw and no centrifuge. The trade-off is that PRP carries a broad mix of growth factors, while this is one of them, pure and at high dose.

Is there evidence, or is this marketing?

One published randomised trial (Lynch et al., Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2025): 13 women enrolled, 12 completed — 8 had PDGF and 4 an ointment after one RF-microneedling session, followed for 30 days. PDGF scored significantly better on a blinded global improvement score at 30 days (at 7 days the difference was not significant) and on 6 of 7 imaging measures. Two authors work for the manufacturer and the study was funded by it. A 2026 review in the same journal, led by Mayo Clinic dermatologists, concluded that clinical use may be outpacing the evidence. That is why it is used here only on the skin, only after a channel-opening treatment, and never injected.

Can I have it on its own?

No, and anyone offering it as a standalone facial is misunderstanding it. It works because it is applied through channels that a treatment has just created. On intact skin it cannot reach the tissue that matters.

Is it injected?

No. It is a topical cosmetic product and is used exactly that way here. It is not approved for injection and is not injected in this practice.

7819 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11214. The studio sits in Bensonhurst, a few minutes from Bath Beach, Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge, Borough Park and Gravesend, and is a straightforward drive from Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island. Street parking is usually available on the side streets off Bay Parkway.

Consultations are conducted in English or Russian, and appointments are scheduled with enough room that a late arrival on the Belt Parkway does not cost you the slot.
