What is XERF?

XERF is a monopolar radiofrequency device made by Lutronic Corporation, cleared by the FDA in August 2025 (510(k) K251327) as a prescription electrosurgical device for electrocoagulation and hemostasis. It delivers two frequencies, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, with a return pad on your back completing the circuit. At SkinScience NY it is performed by Alla Yusim, RN, MSN, FNP, priced per area from $1,000.

The radiofrequency energy heats the deeper layers of skin. That heat contracts existing collagen immediately and stimulates new collagen and elastin over the following weeks — the scaffolding that keeps skin firm. Skin keeps tightening as new collagen forms over the following three months, without surgery or needles.

Standard contraindications and precautions for this treatment — the questions you should expect from anyone offering it.

  • Are you pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding? Not while you're pregnant or nursing.
  • Have you ever had a severe allergic reaction — to a medication, an anaesthetic, or a previous injectable? Alla needs the details before anything is planned.
  • Do you take blood thinners, or daily aspirin? Not a barrier — a planning point.
  • Right now, do you have a cold sore, a skin infection, or an active breakout where you'd want treatment? Wait until the skin is clear.
  • Do you have an autoimmune condition, or take medication that suppresses your immune system? Usually workable, always discussed.
  • Do you have a pacemaker, defibrillator, neurostimulator, cochlear implant, or metal implant in the area to be treated? Radiofrequency isn't booked until Alla has reviewed this.
  • Do you scar badly — raised, thickened or keloid scars? Changes which resurfacing is sensible.
  • Have you taken isotretinoin (Accutane, Roaccutane) in the last six months? Wait it out.

Getting here

The studio is on Bay Parkway

7819 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11214. The studio sits in Bensonhurst, a few minutes from Bath Beach, Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge, Borough Park and Gravesend, and is a straightforward drive from Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island. Street parking is usually available on the side streets off Bay Parkway.

Consultations are conducted in English or Russian, and appointments are scheduled with enough room that a late arrival on the Belt Parkway does not cost you the slot.
