Sculptra Injections
Sculptra is injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It is not an instant filler: the label tells patients the correction appears gradually over several weeks. The FDA has approved it for nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles and, since 2023, for fine lines in the cheek region. At SkinScience NY in Brooklyn it is $1,200.
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra comes as a vial of poly-L-lactic acid microparticles, mixed with sterile water before use and injected into the deep dermis. Once the injection swelling settles, the area can look as it did before; the correction then builds over several weeks. Further sessions are assessed no sooner than four weeks apart.
FDA approval (PMA P030050): shallow to deep nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles in immune-competent people (2009); fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek region (2023); facial fat loss in people with HIV.
In the cheek study on the label, 97 people were treated and 52 were not. At 12 months, 70.7% of the treated group had improved by at least one grade in both cheeks on a blinded rating, against 25.9% of the untreated group; up to four sessions were given, four weeks apart. The label notes that safety and effectiveness beyond three years have not been studied in clinical trials.

7819 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11214. The studio sits in Bensonhurst, a few minutes from Bath Beach, Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge, Borough Park and Gravesend, and is a straightforward drive from Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island. Street parking is usually available on the side streets off Bay Parkway.
Consultations are conducted in English or Russian, and appointments are scheduled with enough room that a late arrival on the Belt Parkway does not cost you the slot.
